Andy Sloan
Lead Pastor
Pastor Andy is originally from Jacksonville, Fl. He felt the call to ministry in 2002 and in 2004 began attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been a Senior Pastor since 2009. He was called to serve as Pastor at Calvary in January 2019. Pastor Andy has been married to his wife Jenny for 27 years. They have three children, Ben, Abi and Allie. He enjoys sports (especially the Florida Gators), spending time with his family, and preaching God's word.
His life verse is Colossians 3:17- "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Garrett Shrouder
Youth Pastor
Garrett is originally from Broken Bow, Oklahoma. He has served in the United States Army for over 10 years while preparing and engaging with the call to ministry he received in 2012. He has served in various ministry roles from Associate Pastor to Chaplaincy in the Army, and answered God’s call to serve with Calvary in September of 2023. While in his military service Garrett met his wife, Jasmyn, who is originally from Eaton, Colorado. They have two children, Ruby and Lewis, who were both born in Carthage, New York. Garrett enjoys ultimate frisbee, hiking, mountain biking, and studying history. He was ordained by Grace Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2022 and is currently attending the Rawlings School of Divinity at Liberty University in order to earn his Master of Divinity in Global Studies.
His favorite verse is: "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33
Sarah taylor
Children's Ministry Director
Sarah has been a resident of Roanoke Rapids all her life. She was called to be the Children's Ministry Director at Calvary in 2017. She has been married to her husband Joel for 14 years and they have two sons, Dillon and Rylan. She enjoys reading, dancing and spending time with her family. She has a passion and gift for working with children and loves telling them about Jesus. One of her favorite verses is: "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
Evelyn Smiley
Secretary
Evelyn Smiley has lived in Roanoke Rapids for the past 37 years. She became the secretary at Calvary in October 2019. Evelyn has been married to George Smiley for 33 years and they have one son, Dalton. She enjoys reading, gardening, making crafts, and time with her family. She shares the gifts God has blessed her with whenever possible. One of her most liked Bible verses is John15:12, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
