Robert Matthews
Worship Leader

Robert (Rock) Matthews is a native of Roanoke Rapids, educated in the Roanoke Rapids School District, and the school of hard knocks. He has worked for Moncure Mobile Homes, Conwell Electric and for the last 25 years worked for Barnes Sales Inc. in sales and service.

Since coming to know the Lord, Robert has served in various positions at Calvary, but the Music Department has always had and still has a special place in his life. Serving as Sound Man for a few years and then getting the opportunity to serve as Worship Leader / Music Director which has been the most wonderful blessing of service to date. Not only to hear the people sing, but to see them truly worship our Lord Jesus in song, smiles beaming, even at times with tears of joy streaming down their faces. Robert will tell you that when God calls you out to do something, regardless of whether you're educated in that area of service or not, God will always equip you to carry out what He calls you to; all God asks is that you be willing to trust Him.

Robert married the former Wanda Love and they have been married 38 years with four children, three girls, Renee Pearce, Nicole Rooker, Christina Sparks, and one son, Robert E. Matthews, III, and also being blessed with seven grandchildren, Cailey, Elijah, Isaiah, Tyler, Katlyn, Jackson and Abigayle who are all blessings from the Lord Jesus.

Robert is a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, knowing that Jesus is the only way to heaven, and it was by Jesus' Grace and His Grace alone that saved him. Robert believes that the Bible is the inspired word of God. If at any time you see Robert and you want to know how to find a better life, to find peace and comfort in this life, regardless of what is going on, just ask him about His Jesus, and he'll help you make Jesus yours.

Sarah Taylor
Children's Ministry Director

Sarah Taylor has enthusiastically accepted the role of Children's Ministry Director at Calvary Baptist Church. She loves working with children and has done so for the past 6 years here at Calvary Baptist; teaching VBS, Sunday School, and directing the preschool department for AWANA. She also took on the role of director for the Summer EXPLOSION Program 2017.

Psalm 37:4 says, "Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Her desire to work in children's ministry as a way to serve God and advance His kingdom is finally coming alive. She looks forward to working with the children at Calvary Baptist, their parents, staff and volunteers.

Married to Joel Taylor since 2007, she has two sons, Dillon and Rylan, whom she loves very much.

She can be reached at the church office Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Linda Moore

Linda Moore has found that serving as the secretary at Calvary Baptist Church has been quite a unique experience and truly a blessing from God. Her love for God and the people of Calvary Baptist began as a young child growing up and following in the footsteps of her grandmother, a charter member of Calvary.

Beginning work as a part-time secretary in 1995 led Linda to believe that if God has a job for you, He would equip you to do it. After working in retail management for almost 14 years, she was blessed to be a stay-at-home mother, volunteering in many positions at the church and in the community. After returning to work as a part-time preschool teacher, God opened the door for her to accept the position as secretary, probably causing much humor in the life of her high school typing teacher. During the years that she has served as secretary, she has learned much and the blessings she has received while serving God in her position have been amazing.

Married to Frank Moore in 1972, their lives have been blessed with one daughter, Andrea, better known as "Andi", and three grandchildren; two grandsons, Colby and Logan, and one granddaughter, Riley Nichole.

Sharing Jesus, whether laughing or crying, with people that stop by or call the church office, comes natural because of the love Jesus has put in her heart for them.

Linda Meadows

Linda Meadows is from Pleasant Hill, NC. She graduated from Seaboard High School and attended Chowan College. She worked for the Northampton County School System for three years, the Northampton County Sheriff's Department for six years, and Caledonia Correctional Institution for 20 years.

At the age of seven she began piano lessons and continued through high school. At the age of thirteen she became the pianist at Bethel Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill and after a lot of prayer for almost a year she became the pianist at Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids. Playing the piano has always been very relaxing and rewarding for her.

The Lord has blessed her with two daughters, Scarlet Smith and Crystal Garner; one grandson, Collin Smith; three granddaughters, Candice Smith, Ashton and Berkley Garner. She is married to Charles Meadows.

Linda Mason

Linda Mason serves as the organist at Calvary Baptist Church. Linda started piano lessons at ten years old. She was the pianist at Quankie Baptist Church for several years until 1966. Linda started playing the organ in 1972. Linda feels this is just a small way she can serve the Lord.

Linda is married to Linwood Mason. Linda and Linwood have lived in New Jersey and Germany. After serving for three years in the military, Linda and Linwood returned to Roanoke Rapids and joined Calvary Baptist Church in 1969.

They have been blessed with two sons, Brent and his wife Wendy, and Craig and his wife Terry. They have four grandchildren, Jonathan, Nick, Gracie and Eli. They also have three great-grandchildren, Kenley, Kayla and Kolton.

Ray Brabble

Ray Brabble, a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, serves as the head janitor of Calvary where you can find him taking much pride in keeping the Lord's house clean and orderly many days during the week before the sun comes up.

Ray has always been a dedicated worker and became the janitor of Calvary after retiring from a 37-year career as an insurance agent where he worked as a life insurance salesman, sales manager, in the training department, and a district manager. Prior to choosing insurance as his career he worked as a bread salesman for one year and as a farmer for seven years.

He graduated from Ahoskie High School and LUTC courses in life, business and disability insurance and completed three LIMRA management courses. He also moderated several LUTC courses. Ray also served in the NC National Guard for nine years, was a Gideon in Pitt County for ten years, and was a Volunteer Fireman and Fire Chief for the Grifton, NC Volunteer Fire Department.

When not working at Calvary you can find Ray working in his garden and sharing his abundant harvest with many of his neighbors, friends and family. Also, Ray has served on many of Calvary's committees, served on the deacon board and served as deacon chairman for a number of years. He also is a Sunday School teacher at Liberty Commons where he has taught Sunday School classes for many years.

He and his wife, the former Frances Parker from Aulander, NC, have two sons and one daughter. They are the proud grandparents of two grandsons, and the great-grandparents of three, two boys and one girl.
